Josh Blackman is a licensed attorney, real estate broker, insurance broker, and general contractor with over 45 years of diverse business experience. His career spans roles as a computer programmer, technical writer, practicing attorney, and entrepreneur.

Mr. Blackman has founded and successfully operated six distinct businesses across industries, including newsletter publishing, email and postal-list marketing, property management, real estate brokerage, construction, real estate investment, and insurance brokerage. His expertise encompasses executive leadership, marketing, project and financial management, contract negotiation, public speaking, and compliance.

In addition to his business ventures, Mr. Blackman is an accomplished author, having written books and articles on law, the internet, property management, and real estate compliance.

Anne Darer

Chief Operating Officer

Anne Darer is a seasoned real estate professional, licensed broker, and trusted advisor with an in-depth understanding of the local market. A key figure since the company’s inception, she has been instrumental in driving technological advancements that have fueled its growth.

Anne oversees daily operations, marketing, sales, leasing, resident relations, capital projects, and renovations. Recognized as a transformational leader, she excels in optimizing business processes and enhancing both the financial performance and physical condition of properties under management. In the office, among clients, and with staff, the go-to phrase is always: “Ask Anne!”

Under her leadership, the company has experienced exponential growth in rental properties over the past five years. Before transitioning to real estate, Anne spent two decades in entertainment, media, and technology. She has also founded two companies in the media and tech space and is a licensed yoga instructor.

Anne encourages everyone to Make Brooklyn Home as she has for over 25 years. 

Larry Ford

Director of Compliance

Larry Ford has been with Brownstone Property Group for eight years, starting as a property manager working with condos and co-ops. During his time with BPG, he has witnessed the company’s exponential growth. As a result of this expansion, he recently stepped into the role of Director of Compliance, where he oversees the myriad laws, regulations, and rules that make New York City such an exciting—and challenging—place to live and work.

Alejandro Romero

Chief of Construction

Alejandro leads the construction and maintenance team at Brownstone Property Group, overseeing a wide range of essential property services, including handyman and carpentry work, snow removal, and daily sanitation. With over 12 years of experience, he manages day-to-day field operations, ensuring efficient execution of everything from minor repairs to full-scale renovations. His expertise and commitment to quality ensure that every project, big or small, meets the highest standards of excellence.

Nicola Herries

Bookkeeper

Nicola Herries is The Brownstone Bookkeeper, bringing 30 years of experience and a passion for numbers to the team. With a sharp eye for anomalies and a love for solving challenges, she ensures accuracy and efficiency in every detail.

Her background in math and computer studies laid the foundation for her bookkeeping career, and her dedication speaks for itself—having worked for only two employers in three decades. While she relies on software for precision, her problem-solving skills set her apart.

Now in her 6th year with Brownstone, Nicola proudly blends her British roots with her fluency in Brooklish—making her an invaluable part of the team 🤓.
